The uniqueness of "Bu Er" lies in its simplicity and functionality. The designers expanded the project's original tension with a simple, large-surface approach, abandoning traditional decoration. Instead, they filled the space with necessary functions to naturally form the spatial modeling. The focus was on the function of space and design according to the structure, not on unnecessary symmetry. This approach reflects the concept of interior architecture and the counterpoint relationship of space.
The project, which covers a total of 140 square meters, was realized using differentiated materials that complement each other. The smooth texture of the marble background wall and the disordered texture of the cement were combined with the irregularly divided large area of wood veneer. This combination, contrasted with the soft fabric sofa, highlighted the fusion of the space aura.
Another unique feature of "Bu Er" is the staircase. Considering the owner's preference for a duplex living environment, the staircase became an important reason for his choice of duplex residence and the core node of the case. The designers didn't blindly fill the stair into an entity, but combined the demand of dimensional function and took use of the higher bottom space through computation.
Despite the regular structural pattern of the building and its limited modifiability due to its location in the center of the building, the designers successfully overcame these challenges. They created a modern and stylish space with abstract paintings, decorations, soft fabrics, and white lights. The seemingly repetitive elements add design highlights, making the space modern and stylish.
In conclusion, "Bu Er" is a testament to Yichen Tong's ability to create a residential house design that is both modern and comfortable. The design, which won the Iron A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, is a perfect blend of simplicity, functionality, and elegance. It is a design that truly reflects the owner's desire for a quality of life that exceeds mere survival.
